Volunteer Opportunities at IVECCS

IVECCS needs YOU! Volunteering is a great way to get involved in IVECCS and is a vital role in the symposium being a success.
There are many ways to get involved and some volunteer opportunities allow you to attend IVECCS for free!

Moderators

Moderating is a great way to get involved at IVECCS and is a vital role in the symposium being a success. Moderators who volunteer at least two (2) half-day blocks will be invited to attend the Speaker/Moderator reception. RSVP required. Moderator assignments are almost completely filled!

Requirements: Must be registered to attend the meeting as an attendee, speaker, or exhibitor and willing to moderate an entire half-day track as designated (a track consists of an entire morning or an entire afternoon – approximately 4 hours).

Duties: Manage the session(s) by introducing the speaker, controlling the lights, sound, entry/exit of attendees, assisting with audiovisual needs of the speaker, etc.  Assist with Q&A after session.

Student Room Monitors

Students, we need you! Students who volunteer at least two (2) half-day blocks will be given free registration!

Duties consist of being responsible for scanning and verifying eligibility of ALL attendee badges upon entry into the session, assisting the Moderator/Instructor with lights, sound, room set, equipment, etc., and any other tasks as needed.

To apply to be a student volunteer please complete the form at the button below. After the form is completed and your assignments are confirmed, you will be given a discount code to register for IVECCS for free! Assignments will be made based on the order in which the request was received.

Lab Technicians

IVECCS needs technicians to help support the wet labs at IVECCS! Serving as a lab tech is a great way for you to be involved in IVECCS and is a vital role in the symposium being a success. Lab Technician assignments are almost completely filled!

Requirements: Must be registered to attend the meeting as an attendee, speaker, or exhibitor and willing to volunteer at least one half-day block as designated – approximately 6 hours.

Description of Duties: 
You will assist the instructors in set-up of the room, stations and equipment before the participants arrive.  During the lab, you may be required to go to the lab supply for additional supplies. Following the session, you will assist in breakdown and cleanup of the lab session. You will be asked to help return all equipment and supplies to the lab supply room.

*Please note: Wet Labs will be held at an off-site location for IVECCS 2023.  Transportation will be provided from the Gaylord to the off-site location (approximately 30 minutes).

Lab Supply

Volunteering in lab supply is a great way for you to be involved in IVECCS and is a vital role in the symposium being a success. We basically set up a hospital and tear it down in the span of 7 days! We need technicians who are used to working with supplies commonly found in hospitals with emergency and critical care services.

Volunteers will be paid $20/hour and receive complimentary registration if they work two half-days.

Description of Duties: You will assist laboratory logistic coordinators in unpacking/packing lab supplies, preparing kits for workshops and labs.  Must be able to accurately identify specialized equipment/supplies, commonly found in hospitals with emergency and critical care services. Depending on the shifts worked duties might include:

  • Unpacking boxes and sorting supplies
  • Packing for workshops and labs based on lists that instructors have provided
  • Unpacking boxes that return from workshops and labs
  • Packing items to be shipped back to industry sponsors
  • Packing items to be shipped back to the VECCS office
  • Creating inventory lists of remaining items
  • Helping move supplies back and forth to workshops within the off-site location

After your volunteer assignments are completed, your registration fee will be refunded.

Volunteer Your Well-Tempered Dog

IVECCS needs dog volunteers for some of the workshops and labs! We are looking for medium-sized, well-tempered dogs for 4 hour labs. We are not doing anything invasive – just ultrasound and neurological exams. You will be asked to stay with your dog for the duration of the lab and will be allowed to audit the lab at no charge and can receive CE credit. In addition, we are offering $150 for each lab your dog is a participant.
